Alfalfa Leaf C/S is dried Medicago sativa leaf prepared in cut-and-sifted form — the traditional bulk herb format used in herbal teas, infusions, and loose-leaf preparations. Medicago sativa (alfalfa) is a perennial flowering plant in the Fabaceae (legume) family.

Nutrient-Dense Botanical Herbs: Alfalfa leaf has exceptionally broad mineral and vitamin content relative to other common herbs. Medicago sativa leaf naturally contains vitamins K, C, and E; B-vitamins including folate; and a wide range of trace minerals including calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and zinc.*

Cut and Sifted (C/S) Traditional Brew-Ready Format: C/S alfalfa has been cut to a particle size suitable for loose-leaf tea, tea ball, or muslin bag infusion. Unlike powdered alfalfa, which passes through most fine strainers and produces a murky brew, C/S steeps cleanly and strains completely. Unlike whole-leaf, C/S provides more surface area for efficient compound extraction in hot water.

Naturally Occurring Chlorophyll: Alfalfa leaf contains one of the highest natural chlorophyll concentrations of any commercially available herb. A pigment studied for antioxidant activity and general wellness support.*

A Nutritionally Significant Herb: Alfalfa is one of the most significant plant sources of naturally occurring vitamin K1 (phylloquinone).

How To Use?

Loose-Leaf Herbal Tea (Traditional Use): Place 1–2 tsp of alfalfa leaf C/S into a tea ball, muslin bag, or infuser. Pour 8–10 oz of hot water (180–200°F) over the herb. Steep 5–10 minutes. Strain well. The longer the steep, the more mineral-forward the flavor becomes. Add honey, lemon, or mint to taste. Drink 1–3 cups daily as part of a balanced diet.*

Herbal Tea Blend: Alfalfa leaf C/S is a classic base herb in herbal tea blends. Combine with peppermint, nettles, oat straw, or red raspberry leaf for a nourishing green tea blend. 

Cold Mineral Infusion (Long-Steep): Place 2–3 tbsp of alfalfa leaf C/S in 32 oz of cold or room-temperature water. Steep 4–8 hours or overnight in the refrigerator. Strain and drink throughout the day. Long cold steeping is traditionally used to draw out minerals and water-soluble vitamins from the herb more gently than hot infusion.

Blended Green Drink: Add 1 tsp of alfalfa C/S to a blender with warm water first to hydrate the leaf, then blend with your green smoothie or vegetable juice blend. Some people prefer this method over tea preparation.

Note: C/S will not blend completely smooth — strain or blend with a high-speed blender.

Tea Bag Making: Pack alfalfa leaf C/S into empty heat-seal or drawstring tea bags for home use. Standard tea bags hold approximately 2 grams. Alfalfa C/S packs and seals cleanly without dust leakage.
