Full spectrum sea moss is the whole dried thallus (plant body) of Chondrus crispus harvested and dried with minimal processing. Unlike bleached or refined sea moss, full spectrum retains its natural tan-to-purple color, naturally occurring polysaccharides, pigments, and trace mineral profile. Bleached white sea moss has been chemically treated, which strips color and may reduce the integrity of its native compounds.

Chondrus crispus is a traditionally consumed red algae used as a food ingredient across Caribbean, Irish, and East Asian culinary traditions. It is naturally high in iodine — iodine content varies by harvest batch and ocean source. Individuals with thyroid conditions, those on thyroid medication, and pregnant or nursing individuals should consult a healthcare provider before incorporating sea moss into their daily diet.

Rinse the dried sea moss thoroughly under cold running water to remove surface debris and sea salt. Soak in filtered cold water for 12–24 hours — the fronds will expand and soften significantly. Drain and rinse again. Blend with fresh filtered water (roughly 1 cup of sea moss to 1–2 cups water) until smooth. Transfer to a glass jar and refrigerate. Gel sets within 1–2 hours and keeps for up to 3–4 weeks refrigerated.
