Traditional Preparation (How To Use)
Because Kava is a fibrous root, it requires a specific preparation method to release its natural properties. Follow these steps for an authentic South Pacific infusion:
- Measure: Use 1 tsp (about 2g) of cut & sifted root in a fine-mesh strainer bag or muslin cloth.
- Soak: Submerge the bag in 8-12 ounces of warm water (about 40°C). Avoid boiling water.
- Knead & Squeeze: Massage and squeeze the root in the bag for 5-10 minutes to release kavalactones.
- Final Press: Squeeze the bag again to extract all liquid. The resulting water should be opaque and milky.
- Serve: Enjoy the infusion in small sips. A slight numbing sensation in the mouth is normal for high-quality Kava.
