Wissam (Wess) Messad

Founder & CEO, Herb To Body

I built Herb To Body around one question customers kept asking me: is this the real thing? These guides cover where each botanical comes from, how to judge quality, and what the evidence does and does not support.

HACCP training (2025 by HACCP International Alliance)
HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, the food safety system that maps where contamination can enter a process and sets controls at those points. Wess completed HACCP training. Herb To Body’s receiving, handling and packing procedures are built on this framework.
21 CFR Part 111 GMP training (2023 by NSF)
21 CFR Part 111 is the FDA regulation that sets Good Manufacturing Practice for dietary supplements, covering identity testing, batch records, written procedures and labeling controls. Wess completed this training through NSF and uses it as a reference for the company’s supplier vetting and packing standards.
Where the guides started
Wess opened a health food store in 2017 and spent three years behind the counter before launching Herb To Body in 2020. Every guide on this site starts from the questions customers asked him there.

About Wess

Wissam (Wess) Messad has worked in natural products since 2017, when he opened a health food store and spent his days answering customer questions about the same herbs Herb To Body sells today. He founded Herb To Body in 2020 and runs it as CEO, overseeing sourcing from growers and importers, supplier vetting, and the quality and labeling standards the company applies to every product it packs.

Before Herb To Body, Wess spent a decade in enterprise search, most recently as a partner and SEO director at MediaCom (WPP), where he led search and content strategy for Fortune 500 advertisers in pharmaceuticals and healthcare, consumer packaged goods, big-box and office retail, and energy. On the healthcare accounts, every piece of content passed through medical, legal and regulatory review before it went live. That discipline shapes how Herb To Body reviews its own content: claims get checked before they get published.

His writing and reviews focus on what a botanical is, where it comes from, how it has traditionally been used, and how to tell a quality product from a poor one.

Content on this page and in linked articles is for educational purposes only and is not medical advice. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Wess is not a physician, pharmacist, or licensed healthcare provider; consult your own provider before using any herb or supplement.

How I review content

I review guides on this site the same way I review a label before it goes on a pouch. Botanical name correct. Part of the plant stated. Traditional use described as traditional use, not as proof. Research cited where it exists, and the gaps named where it does not. If an article overstates what an herb can do, it does not get published.
