As the name implies, the herb is used to make eye wash.
The powdered leaf of the plant is also used to make tea, capsules, infused oils and other topical preparations.
The astringent qualities of eyebright are used to address congestion, sinusitis and other issues relating to inflammation of the mucous membranes.
In addition to poultices, lotions and eye washes, eyebright is added to syrups and throat lozenges. The herb is also listed as an official ingredient in the Homeopathic Pharmacopœia of the United States.
